Thursday, September 7th, 2017 – 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Howell Public Library – The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County and the Heritage Group of Howell present “Back to the Land – The Story of the Jewish Farmers of Greater Monmouth County”.
This program is a slide/talk on the Jewish agriculture industry that flourished in Central Jersey from 1920 to 1970. The largest concentration of Jewish poultry farms in Monmouth County developed in the Farmingdale/Howell area, producing a close-knit community and fertile agriculture life.
They raised cattle, chickens, grains and vegetables on land that was to become today’s developments and the population explosion.
